Port Balifor
Built in a rocky cove protected from the elements and facing out into the Bay of Balifor, this port town is a key trading hub for the Balifor region and all of the surrounding
areas. All kinds of people would come to trade in Port Balifor, from elves to dwarves and Kender.
The town extends out over the water, half of Port Balifor being set out on pilings and wharves connected by narrow bridges that seem little more than alleys between tightly packed buildings.
Below the pilings is a network of sewers where thieves and smugglers dwell, as well as vicious monsters if the rumours are true. It is in these stone tunnels that the black market does most of it’s work.
The buildings on the surface are mostly made of stone and wood, and crammed quite close together.
Ships still come and go from the harbour, and almost any piece of equipment.
High cliffs surround Port Balifor, the only way in by land being a well-trodden road from the north, and the moment anyone walks along it they become aware that this is an occupied area. Dozen of bodies hang on a crude gallows alongside the road – humans, elves and Kender who offended the new rulers of Balifor, left to rot and be picked apart by carrion birds.
A sign written in both common and Khurish reads:
“Such is the fate of all who oppose the black Dragonarmy.”
Once one of the greatest markets in Balifor, the Harbor Market of Port Balifor is now nothing more than small gathering for khurish merchants, local fishermen and scavengers that comb through the ruins of the towns past looking for valubles to trade here.
Gloom Town is the southwest part of Port Balifor. This maze of crumbling buildings lining battered alleys and streets is also known as Retreat by its current residents, the afflicted kender.
The Pig and Whistle is owned by William Sweetwater and was located in Port Balifor. The Inn was considered one of the finest in all of eastern Ansalon. The building its self was not grand but the atmosphere and the cold brew was. The Dragonarmy officers that occupied the port did not share this view. This was because William charged them three times the regular price than the locals or people he deemed worthy of gracing his common room. The Pig and Whistle was always looking for new entertainment to keep the locals minds off the war.
Ryke’s Fine Clothiers is owned by Rykian Harberdasher and was located on the southern end Port Balifor. This shop sold anything from work to fine light armor to some of the finest clothes in eastern Ansalon. During the Dragonarmies occupancy this shop was responsible for crafting and designing officer uniforms and tailoring armor for the Draconians of the Dark Queen's army.
Narl's Watch is ran by Swashy Gren and was located on the north side of Port Balifor near the docks. Narl's started out as a referral service for mariners and sailors looking for ships. It soon turned into a registry for mercenaries and a shop that dealt in maps, weapons and armor.
Waverage Tavern is a rundown tavern beneath the upper docks in the center of Port Balifor and owned by Feryn Venomtounge. This local watering-hole was a place native residents would steer clear of due to the cutthroats and criminals that hung-out there. The gang Bottom Feeders ran the joint and dealt in all kinds of illegal activities. During the Dragonarmies occupancy of the port many draconians and dragonarmy officers could be found here.
Main Street in Port Balifor is a new addition that hugs the coves cliff face. Many taverns, gaming houses and run down tenements line this street
Merchant's Guild was a general guild that dealt with the trade and goods of Port Balifor before and during the War of the Lance.
Wool Merchants Guild of Port Balifor was a guild that dealt with the Wool and cloth goods of Port Balifor before and during the War of the Lance. This guild would of had dealing with the Council of Merchant Guilds.
Council of Merchant Guilds was a group of leaders from the guilds in Port Balifor during the War of the Lance. They held meets to discuss trade matters of the port and ruled the town for the most part. When the Dragonarmies took over the town, their meets stopped.
