Burning Ice

An oddity in this region, these is a fissure directly below the edge of the glacier from which a burning heat rises, melting a gauge through the ice but ultimately competing against the worst of the cold. To approach a character finds the conditions sweltering, but being able to look down the fissure through which a black smoke rises constantly, they will see far, far below a pool of fire burning. This fissure in in fact a small yet active volcano, a pool of lava broiling hundreds of feet down.
