The Monolith
Also known as Stonecliff, the Monolith used to be two 20ft- tall marble pillars sitting on a cliff overlooking the Durris River and Huldre Bay on the southern shore of Northern Ergoth, each carved with ancient faces and symbols. It is claimed in some legends that the pillars were thousands of years old, and were possible as old as the world itself.
The pillars were shattered in 339AC when Guerrand DiThon and his allies battled the renegade mage Belize, the rubble left where it fell. The site is now known as a peaceful and pleasant place for travelers to stop, and also believed by the people of Northern Ergoth to be sacred to the Tuatha Dundareal, a race of faerie folk known to live near humanfolk and to secretly help to tend their farms.
The Tuatha Dundareal who live in this area remain invisible unless they choose to reveal themselves, and a peaceful people with a symbiotic relationship with the DiThon Fiefdom. They claim to have tended these lands since the dawn of time under the leadership of King Weador, and resent being compared to other faerie folk, liking the term “brownie” even less.
