Thonvil
The largest village within the fiefdom, Thonvil was founded after the Cataclysm and made up primarily of wattle-and- daub houses with fenced gardens large enough to hold paddocks for personal livestock and a small harbour for fishermen to ply a comfortable trade.
Thonvil also plays host to the Wooden Weapons Annual – a gladiatorial tournament in which only non-lethal wooden weapons are used.
In recent history the village was badly afflicted by the Medusa Plague, a terrible magical disease that was miraculously cured after Bram DiThon came to power, the locals attributing the passing of the plague to local fae.
Nobody knows where the plague came from, as despite being magical in nature it was also completely impervious to magic. It could not be dispelled nor even detected by magical means. All anyone could work out was that it could be transmitted through water, and that only humans seemed to be affected. Wizards who came to investigate it also worked out that the symptoms always got worse just as the moon Nuitari rose in the sky.
Once a person was infected, the plague would incubate for about a day before the victim would suffer from chills and fevers. On the second day they would shed a layer of skin over their entire body, much like a snake would, the third day bringing uncontrollable thirst. At the end of the third day the magical transformation would begin, the victim’s eyes turning black and their limbs all suddenly becoming three-headed snakes. The snakes would immediately regrow if cut off, and any harm done to them was felt by the infected victim as well.
Oddly, areas where there was an outbreak would also report seeing far more natural snakes in their area than normal, as though they were attracted to the plague.
