Caergoth

At the south-western corner of Solamnia, Caergoth is a large port city and an important trading and transport hub. Ships from Caergoth usually move back and forth into the Western Isles all day, with more sailing up and down the Straits of Algoni to take merchants and supplies up and down the coast.

As the war has developed, Caergoth has become a beacon for the knighthood, both as a point where refugees can find escape from the mainland, and where the knights out in the islands have started to gather for a counterattack. The population has greatly increased as thousands have come through, fleeing the war, whilst more and coming from the west, armed and ready to take part.

It is thought of as a solid, down-to-earth city with square stone buildings, built with a sense of permanence on a commanding bluff that overlooks a sheltered harbour. A high wall surrounds both the city and harbour, steep ramps joining the two.

Caergoth is a base for the Knights of the Rose, and also contained the House of Luin, a base and home for the Order of the Red Robes. Festivals and knightly processions are often held in Luin’s Field a square between the city’s three major temples that is kept clean at all times regardless of the time of year.
